The last 11 days have sucked. For 9 of them my ankles was swelled up and I didn’t want to chance running on it. I don’t have medical insurance and can’t afford to seriously injure myself.
During that time, I realized how negative people are. I was told well maybe running just isn’t for you and that it is stupid to run if it hurts. They just didn’t understand that I made a goal for myself and I was going to try my best to reach it.
One little set back wasn’t going to stop me. Then I looked at the people spewing forth those negative remarks and I realized most of them were miserable and complained about their lives on a regular basis. They are the type of people that give up before they even try.
Of course there are a few people that are very supportive and gave me advise on how to treat my ankle to help it heal faster and what to do in the future to prevent it from swelling.
Today, I finally got back out and ran with a different pair of shoes, ankle brace and inserts for my shoes to relieve the stress running on concrete causes. I did a mile and a quarter in 14 minutes.
Boy did it feel good. I still can’t run all the way through a mile without walking but I am getting there.
