Day 4

Tuesday August 3rd, 2010

I woke up and was ready to run. My ankle was a little sore but concrete isn’t very kind to new runners so I expected some aches and pains. It was raining and foggy, just an ominous day. I left the house anyways, nothing was going to stop me.

My ankle wasn’t having it. I know I don’t have the best pain tolerance but I have given birth twice and can handle some pain. Every time my ankle hit the ground it almost brought me to my knees. I kept going until I couldn’t anymore. I believe pushing through the pain is the term.

I ended up limping halfway home and feeling about as gloomy as the weather was. I finished in 34 minutes and was disgusted. Luckily I am not a dwell ont the bad kind of person and decided that my cardio workout schedule for the night would have to be changed to strength training or something with a little less bouncing and jumping.

Kimmy, my friend that I have recruited in running the 5k as well was coming over to. I texted her and let her know the change and she was cool with it. I found this great yoga workout http://www.hulu.com/watch/143969/self-ultimate-de-stress-yoga#x-0,vepisode,1,0 on hulu.com and was excited to try it.

Wednesday was going to be my rest day. I also talked to my Dad who used to be a cross country runner and got some advice. From there I sat down and mapped out a strategy on the calendar. I was going to run four times a week, do yoga or strengthening twice and have a rest day. After four days of running, I will add a mile to the route.

By race day I should be running 5 miles at a time. Well, that is if everything goes as planned.
