There are 11 days left till the race and I am super confident. I just finished running 2 .08 miles without stopping. I finished in 20 min and 50 seconds. I realized that once I hit about ¾ a mile, running got easier. I don’t know if it was a mental triumph or what. Like a light went on and my body decided that it had already gone this far without stopping, what was a little farther.
I know that I will finish strong at the race. I am not deluded in thinking I will win, that should be reserved for individuals that have been running longer than a few weeks, but I am not going to embarrass myself. I wanted to finish in the first half and I think that I will be able to.
I have also tried to quit smoking, but I really need to make a conscious effort to hydrate better. I haven’t figured out a way to carry water with me while running and I don’t really drink a lot of water… well any water. Over the next weeks I am going to really work on it. I noticed a huge difference in how I felt after running today then normal and I had downed a bunch of Gatorade about an hour prior to running.
