Well it is that time again, time to write my little blog about my running adventures and misadventures. Yesterday was my rest day and I didn’t do anything other than a little laundry and a short walk to the library and post office.
I tried to stay off my ankle as much as possible because it was still really sore and I was starting to get a bit nervous. I iced it off and on and took Excedrin regularly. I also dug out an ankle brace thingy for me to wear on my next run. Nothing seemed to be helping at all. It was getting to the point where I didn’t think I would be able to run today and I was dreading that. I went to bed unsure.
At about 3 am, Mario woke up screaming. I fumbled around in the dark, half asleep trying to get to his room to put him back to bed. In the darkness, I tripped over something. I reached out and braced myself with the dresser and my ankle made this loud popping/cracking sound. It was instant relief, all the pain was gone. I jumped up and down a few times, hopped on one foot and rolled it in a circle about ten times and there was no pain.
Apparently, my ankle had been out of place, which would explain why it hurt so damn bad. That also could be why it was swollen and a bit discolored. I can’t believe I managed to run as far as I did on it Tuesday, because I did about a mile before limping home.
I woke up super excited to be able to run again today. I had to wait for the hubby to get home from work. Time just seemed to barely tick by. When he walked through the door, I was dressed and ready to go.
I drank a bunch of water, stretched thoroughly and walked around the block for a warm up and was off, wearing my ankle brace of course. I didn’t want to tempt fate. I also took a few Excedrin about an hour before just in case.
Today was my best run so far, even though it felt like I was running a bit slower than usual. I only had to stop and walk 3 times for about 20 seconds each time. I finished in 22 minutes and it worked out to be 10:34 minutes a mile. Whhoooo haaaaa!!!
I was actually expecting my time to be a littler slower than the 23 I ran. I couldn’t be happier with myself. Now, it is time for me to hit the shower. Boy do I need one.
