Day 3

Monday August 2nd, 2010

Today I couldn’t wait for my husband to get home from work so I could take off running. I threw some manicotti in the oven and was out the door. I really liked running. I had set some goals for today’s run. I wanted to shave a minute of my time and I really wanted to focus on pacing myself.

I am a very goal oriented person and I love numbers. I like to keep track of everything  so I can look back and see even the smallest bit of improvement. I like small goals that are reachable, yet still challenging enough that it requires effort to reach them.

I ran about halfway before my lungs decided to protest. I walked for about 30 seconds and then was back at it. I made it home in 23 minutes. I was thrilled, a whole 3 minutes faster. I was so proud of myself while I laid on the floor trying to recoup.

I jotted my info into my log on favorite run and realized I had just ran 11 minute miles. (I was running a little more than 2 miles ) My pace was about 5 mph. I couldn’t wait to run again and compare how I was doing.
